When we say “Original Medicare,” we’re only referring to Medicare Parts A and B. Together, Medicare Parts A and B provide your hospital and medical insurance.

Medicare does pay for different kinds of durable medical equipment (DME) in different ways. For example, you may need to rent the lift chair, you may need to buy it, or you may be able to choose whether you rent or buy it.

Medicare Part B covers many different types of tests, items, and services that are medically necessary or that help prevent diseases or conditions. The problem is there’s an enormous amount of fine print. Many things are covered only under certain circumstances or up to certain dollar amounts.
